Parish Announcements – 11th May, 2025

  1. ORGANIZATIONS MEETING: Today, 11th May 2025, is the Monthly General Meeting of the Catholic Men Organization and Catholic Women Organization (after the 10.00am Mass) and Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (after the 8:00am Mass). Let us all ensure we attend our respective organizations as crucial matters will be discussed.
  1. WUCWO CLOSING CEREMONY: Next Sunday 18th May, our parish shall be hosting the closing ceremony of the World Union of the Catholic Women Organization (WUCWO) week at the 10:30am mass. We appeal to all parishioners to kindly accommodate our guests and visitors from all over the Archdiocese and follow the arrangements put in place for the ceremonies through Mary our Mother, we succeed!!
  1. CHARITY/LOVE BOWL: We wish to remind our parishioners to return their Lenten Charity/ Love bowls to St Vincent de Paul Society. Let us endeavor to be committed. Remember; “whatsoever you do to the least of my brethren, that you do unto me”.
  1. SMALL CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY: SCC meetings will take place at various community centers on Wednesday, 14th May, 2025 at 6pm. Scriptural Reading: John 13:31-33a,34-35 there shall be mass at St Andrew community centre. Venue: 511 Road A Close, House 11, FESTAC Town. All those living around should be in attendance. Please refer to the Parish notice board or parish website for the various centers.
  1. SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR THE POOR: Next Sunday, 18th May 2025 shall be our monthly Special Collection for the Poor. This collection is to help support the activities of St. Vincent De Paul. Let us all prepare to donate generously. “Remember, whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me”
  1.  CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION: Our annual Parish Children’s Day celebration, organized by the Confraternity of Christian Mothers,  comes up on Tuesday May 27th, 2025. This events begins with a talk and interactive session on Saturday at 4pm while the Holy mass shall be on Tuesday, at 12.30pm and the social celebrations immediately after.   1. MAY DEVOTION: May devotion in honor of the blessed Virgin Mary is ongoing and the program is as follows:

Monday-Friday:
Rosary prayers at 5:30pm
Marian Talk – during 6:30pm
mass after post-communion prayers.

Saturday: at 6:30am
mass

Sundays: at 4;30pm
Rosary prayers and Marian Talk during Benediction.

PLEASE NOTE: Devotional societies assigned talks should adhere to the instructions as directed in the roaster.

  1. ARCHDIOCESAN ENGAGEMENT FOR MISSION PROGRAMME (AEMP): The AEMP is a leadership development programme designed for all adult parishioners within the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos. It covers key topics including Leadership, Spiritual Discernment (to help you identify and utilise your God-given talents and spiritual gifts), and Governance Guidelines.   1. PARISH HYMN BOOKS: We appreciatethe Knights and Ladies of St. Mulumba, Festac subcouncil for their kind donations of hymns books for our use. We appeal to us to kindly handle them with care and do not take them away.

  1. (1%) ONE PERCENT BIBLE CHALLENGE: We wish to encourage all Parishioners to read and study the word of God for at least 15minutes every day; which is about 1% of 24 hours. For this week, we shall be continuing with the ROMANS. Take up this challenge faithfully as stated below and be enriched spiritually.

  1. RETURN TO THE SACRAMENTS: We wish to encourage those who have been estranged from the sacraments for one reason or the other especially the Holy Eucharist, to return to the Sacraments. Kindly meet any of the Priests if you are having any difficulty in this regard. May Christ grant us life through His Body and Blood. Amen.
