– Early Life and Education: Prevost earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Villanova University and a Master of Divinity from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. He also holds a licentiate and doctorate in canon law from the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome.

– Church Career:

– Prior General of the Augustinians: Served two terms from 2001 to 2013

– Bishop of Chiclayo: Served in Peru from 2015 to 2023

– Prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops: Appointed by Pope Francis in January 2023, overseeing the selection of bishops
