Parish Announcements – 22nd March, 2026

  1. SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR THE POOR: Today, 22nd March 2026 is our monthly Special Collection for the Poor. This collection is to help support the activities of St. Vincent De Paul. We are all encouraged to donate generously. “Remember, whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me”.
  1. PALM SUNDAY: Next Sunday, March 29th, 2026, is Palm Sunday and it marks the beginning of the Holy week, the climax of the Church’s Liturgical year. There shall be blessing of palms at each mass. The procession shall begin after the 8:00am mass from the Event Center. We are all encouraged to participate actively in the Holy week ceremonies. Please kindly check page 4 of the bulletin for the Holy Week schedule.
  1. HOLY WEEK BROCHURE: Our parish Holy Week/ Easter Programe will be on sale from Palm Sunday, March 29th, 2026, to April 13th, 2026. Price: ₦1,000 only.
  1. MID-DAY MASS: There shall be no Mid-Day Mass on Tuesday 24th March 2026, due to the requiem mass of Late Mrs Elizabeth Mayaki at 10am but the evening mass shall take place at 6:30pm.
  1. CATECHISM PARENTS’ MEETING: There will be a meeting of the Parish Priest with parents of candidates who passed the evaluation exams. The meeting will hold Today, Sunday, March 22nd 2026 at 1pm, Venue: lower hall(Anthony Okojie’s hall). Parents and guardians are to attend the meeting with their children’s exams sheets (which will be shared to the catechumens at their classes on Saturday). Please be punctual.
  1. LAITY WEEK: The 2025 Laity Week begins on Monday, March 23rd to March 27th 2026, in our parish. The weeklong event titled “The Application of CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING in Contemporary Nigeria.” Talks on selected topics will be presented during evening Masses from Monday to Friday. There will be Corporal Works of Mercy by various societies/organizations while the Grand Finale comes up on Sunday March 29th, with the Laity Week Collection at all Masses.
  1. PARISH OFFICE: The priests will not be available at the office during Holy week except for emergency cases. The Parish Office will however be open. It shall close for the Easter break on Tuesday, March 31st 2026 to reopen on Monday, April 13th 2026. Mass bookings shall be available after each morning mass at the sacristy.
  1. CONFESSIONS: There shall be no confessions during the Holy Week and Easter Octave. Confessions shall resume on Tuesday, April 14th, 2026.
  1. CHRISTIAN WAKE: There will be a Christian Wake for Late Mrs Euphemia Ifeoma Ufondu on Tuesday 24th March, 2026 by 6:00pm. Venue:3rd Avenue Q close House 23, Festac Town. May her gentle soul rest in peace.
  1. REQUIEM MASS: There will be a Requiem Mass for Late Chief Andrew Atoloka Oseafiana on Thursday 26th March, 2026 by 12:30pm. He was member of Catholic Men Organisation. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
  1. BURIAL ARRANGEMENTS OF LATE MRS. ELIZABETH MODUPE MAYAKI: This is to formally notify you of the burial arrangements for the late mother of our Parish Priest, Very Rev. Fr. Melvis Mayaki.A Requiem Mass will be celebrated in our Parish on Tuesday, 24th March 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Another Requiem Mass will hold at her parish in Ikotun: Holy Rosary Catholic Church, off Governor’s Road, Ikotun, Lagos, on Thursday, 26th March 2026 at 5:00 p.m.The Service of Songs and Funeral Mass will take place at her home parish St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Igara, Edo State on: Thursday, 15th April 2026 – Service of Songs, Friday, 16th April 2026 – Funeral Mass. The official funeral attire is now available at the cost of ₦10,000 per 6 yards. Interested parishioners are kindly requested to make payment and collect their fabric at the parish bookshop during the week days and from the Harvest Finance Desk immediately after Sunday Mass.Parishioners who wish to offer financial support or make donations in kind may kindly contact Rev.   1. CHRISTIAN WAKE: There will be a Christian Wake for Late Mr Romeo Ifeanyi Francis Ekwunife on Thursday  26th March, 2026 by 6:00pm. Venue:21 Road I close Block 3 Flat 6 festac town. He was a member of St Jude Thaddeus society. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
  1. REQUIEM MASS: There will be a Requiem Mass for Late Mr Okolidim James Mmaduabuchi on Friday 27th March, 2026 by 12:30pm. He was member of St Anthony of Padua . May his gentle soul rest in peace.

  1. STATIONS OF THE CROSS: During the Lenten Season, our Parish Stations of the Cross shall hold every Wednesday and Friday, immediately after the morning mass, at 12noon and 5:30pm. We are all encouraged to journey with the Lord through His passion and death. Booklets are available at #300 only.
  1. PASSION-OF-CHRIST DRAMA REHEARSALS 2026 – CALL TO AUDITION:. We gladly inform you that the Passion of Christ Drama Rehearsals is ongoing, and will continue to hold, Mondays to Fridays every week. Venue: Holy Family Catholic Church Compound, Time: 7:00pm prompt. All parishioners are kindly invited to join in the rehearsals and casting as part of their Lenten spiritual exercise. HARVEST PLEDGE REDEMPTION: We wish to encourage all parishioners to kindly redeem their pledges and commitment made during the Harvest of Divine Love at the Harvest Stand (on Sunday) and the parish office (on Weekdays) in cash, cheque or POS and get a receipt.   1. RENOVATIONS: This is to bring to our awareness that the JOHN PAUL 11 Hall is undergoing renovation until further notice. Therefore, all activities scheduled for the upper hall should be rescheduled for another venue in the church compound. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
  1. SECURITY: We wish to encourage all parishioners to be more security conscious especially with their children within the compound. Kindly instruct our children not to follow adults unknown to them outside the compound .
  1. LUMEN CHRISTI COLLEGE: The entrance admission form into Lumen Christi College, Maya-Ikorodu is available at the parish office and Nazareth School (upper) at the rate of N10,000(Cash only). Lumen Christi College is a co-educational boarding school managed by the Congregation of the Mission (Vincentian Fathers in Nigeria). The first entrance examination holds 28th March, 2026 at Nazareth School. Online examination option is also available and can be taken at home.

  1. (1%) ONE PERCENT BIBLE CHALLENGE: We wish to encourage all Parishioners to read and study the word of God for at least 15minutes every day; which is about 1% of 24 hours.   1. RETURN TO THE SACRAMENTS: We wish to encourage those who have been estranged from the sacraments for one reason or the other especially the Holy Eucharist, to return to the Sacraments. Kindly meet any of the Priests if you are having any difficulty in this regard. May Christ grant us life through His Body and Blood. Amen.
